The AKS-47, or AKS, is a version of the famous AK-47 assault rifle with a folding stock. This modified version was specially developed for the Soviet paratroopers, who needed a more compact version of the AK-47. It was adopted in 1950. This weapon was used by the Soviet armed forces and exported to numerous countries.
